Overiew

Enough Stores is a London-based social enterprise tackling food waste and food insecurity in the UK. Each year, £1B worth of edible food goes to waste, while over 9M people face food poverty.

The project introduces a dual solution:

Physical Store – Shipping container shops in urban areas offering affordable surplus food.
Digital App – A platform with nutritional scores, surplus alerts, recipe ideas, and meal planning.

The initiative also aims to reduce plastic waste and carbon emissions while creating a sustainable, dignified food access model.

Using the Double Diamond framework,

I conducted:

Stakeholder & user interviews with food banks and community kitchens.
Key insights: users need nutrition education, affordability is crucial, word of mouth matters, and community connection increases engagement.
Design tools: personas, empathy maps, competitor analysis, and experience maps.

Physical Store – The Enough Store

Mobile App Features
- Smart Recipes: Suggests meals based on ingredients users already have.
- Collaborative Shopping List:
  - From any recipe, missing items can be added to a list.
  - Lists can be shared with others, who can also add or remove items.
- Shop Section:
  - Browse and select products directly from the app.
  - Pay in-store and collect at a pre-selected Enough Store.
